Why We Do It

We do it to have fun.

Listening to your wonderful feedback is "why" we continue.

Any questions?

The reality is that it takes about 1 year to:

  1. Refine the rules from the previous year

  2. Come up with a storyline

  3. Perform extensive research the time/place

  4. Balance the plot

  5. Create characters

  6. Balance the races and statistics

  7. Write a background for every character

  8. Determine special circumstances/plot devices

  9. Create the weapons/relics/props.

  10. Locate/buy/collect/steal the prizes

  11. Print all the materials

  12. Locate/buy/steal the other materials

  13. Force others to pack the materials into individual containers

  14. Press people to help Referee

  15. Do small simulations to be sure combat isn't lopsided

  16. Check our bank accounts because we've fronted $700+

  17. Explain to our 'Better Halfs' how "It's ok to lose money to stage a LARP"

  18. Try to see our family because we meet at least 1 time a month.

  19. Hope our family understands that we won't see them in July because of "The Game" and we ain't talking Footy.

  20. Watch Rick forgive himself for taking that week vacation from work to develop characters/combat systems, revise the rules, and create the character sheets.

  21. Finally, determine how many different ways the players are going to mess with any/everything we did. Even then it's all speculation until game time.....

HOWEVER:   It is all worth it, because we enjoy doing it.  We would always like to think that every year our game gets better. It seems that every year we put more time, money, and energy into the game, and we wish we were the players.  But rules are rules...

The more you enjoy it, the more fun we have listening to your stories.  So enjoy the game, or else.
